I'm sure you've read our claims about our genuine focus on, and commitment to our candidates. Perhaps you'd like to read what a sample of them have said about us over the years:
Dear David,
I wanted to sincerely thank you for taking the time to write to me personally about your selection decision and whilst I am disappointed, I also understand the process you have undertaken.
I also wanted to give you some feedback and comment.
Whilst I have only been in the employment market since the end of January, I have applied for a number of roles through recruitment firms, to this date you are the only person who has actually taken the time and shown such professional courtesy by responding to me personally. This is something that reflects extremely well on you and your business. In the past I have employed a significant number of staff using various recruitment firms, I can assure you that when I find a new role I will be speaking with you to partner with in the future in this regard.
– Candidate interviewed for a Sales Director position with an international capital equipment manufacturer
I would like to mention how impressed I am with your team. The difference from other recruitment agencies in approach to applicants and interviewing is extraordinary. The professionalism, the imparting of company information to help candidates understand the organisation with whom they are applying for a position, and the interviewing techniques instil confidence to both candidate and client that the outcome will be beneficial to both. Trish is an absolute gem, it is so different to be treated with warmth and friendliness. And thank you for the tips!
– Candidate approached for a role within a packaging market leader
I'm very impressed with your professional approach and it is refreshing to see this in the recruitment industry.
– Sales Manager, National Energy Systems company
It is uncommon to receive such a detailed explanation of the selection process. It is very much appreciated.
With such professionalism, I will certainly keep your company in mind in the future when I need to recruit staff, after I have secured a new role in Australia.
– Candidate for a Director of Sales position.
Can I say that I appreciate you even taking the time to respond to me. I truly understand and appreciate your position. Can I say that in my professional career, from both sides of the fence I have never, and I say never had the courtesy extended to me that I have received from you and your company, even whilst on the "other side of the fence" working with recruiters on Senior appointments my business was in need of. – Candidate for senior management role with a global manufacturer.
That is without doubt a most professional and respectful response to a job application.
I thank you for taking the time to explain the outcome. I can clearly see you are a cut above the rest when it comes to recruitment companies.
– Sales Director from an international company approached about a career change
I have worked for xxxx company for 20 years and only recently have looked to a new career. My experience so far of the recruitment industry I must say is less than impressive. My conclusion I must admit has been that it's really a very rude industry that likes to take but gives very little. Your letter yesterday was a breath of fresh air. Congratulations on making the effort. I along with other aspiring candidates appreciate your openness and honesty.
– Candidate coming to us for a role handled through advertising and search
While the result on this occasion was a little disappointing ... I would like to thank you for the compassionate way the message was delivered.
– Candidate for a Canberra based GM role
Hi David,
I was one of the participants on xxxx company's (training) program held in Hong Kong
last week.
Wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your session on Interviewing Skills. What I particularly appreciated was your style of taking the class and an extremely direct manner of communication. It is very involving and you managed to capture attention of thirty very different people for a full day till late in the evening.
The sheer depth in which you covered the topic. I never though interviewing skills could be covered in as much detail. The emphasis you laid on we trying out the skills we learnt right there in the class.Thank you so much and I would be glad to remain in touch.
– Participant in an Asia Pacific Future Leaders program facilitated for a major bank
Thank you once again for sharing your industry insights and experience with all of us here at xxxx Associates. It was truly an enjoyable day and rarely have I attended a training programme that was so enjoyable throughout and in relation to what we are doing everyday.
Will definitely be looking forward to meeting up with you again in future.
– Participant in an Search industry training program run for a partner in Asia
Just a brief note to thank you for your letter, the rejection element is never easy to write or receive I refer here to the spirit in which is written and regard it as a breath of fresh air in an industry where dismissive behaviour is all too prevalent.
I have shown it to colleagues who agree with the above, and in closing, make that observation that at some future point you may be able to assist me or alternatively, I may be in a position to bring business to your consultancy.
– Candidate for senior Business Improvement Manager role
Thanks for the update and candid response. I appreciated the opportunity for an interview and went home feeling that this was one of the better interviews I have had recently - not because of my answers but because of your questions and style, it is refreshing to know there is still some professionals out there in the recruitment sector. Maybe something closer to my field will come our way in the very near future.
– Candidate for a senior account manager role with an international plastics company
I'm aware of an outstanding lack of respect from many in your industry for people who have taken the considerable time it takes to apply for a position. They often don't receive any notification of a rejection, or if they do, almost always a standard and impersonal one.
Yours was generous, and was done with kindness and respect, and proves you to be someone far and away ahead of your industry peers.
Congratulations, and I will certainly be keeping your company name in mind.
– Candidate for a search for General Manager role in a large mining operation
Dear David
CONGRATULATIONS.
This may seem to be an unusual way to start an email, addressed to someone who has just been advised that "I'm afraid I don't have good news."
I was one of the unsuccessful applicants for the General Manager - Victoria position , who received your letter late last week.
I congratulate you for three reasons, namely:
- you forwarded a letter telling me of my fate, not just a one line email or brief phone call;
- you provided a plausible, somewhat detailed explanation of why I was one of the unsuccessful applicants; and
- you replied.
Having been seeking a senior management role for some time, I have come across many approaches adopted by some so-called head hunters or employment agencies. Generally speaking, the approach adopted by most agencies leaves a lot to be desired. I would rate the approach adopted by many of these organisations to be worse than that used by used car sales people of more than a decade ago. The fact that you replied was a novelty.
Your approach was a refreshing change. I know it must take longer, but the efforts made are greatly appreciated. It is important for one's self esteem to be treated with some respect.
Although I am disappointed to receive your news, I thank you for the way in which it was delivered.
Maybe you can help me in sometime into the future.
– Candidate for a general Manager role
…I know I did the work, but it is thanks to you for showing me the light, and allowing me to see the positives versus the negatives. For this I will always be grateful, as I am positive there is no way I would have taken the steps forward in my health, my personal life and my professional life that has got me to where I am now.
Thank you very much for everything you have helped me with.
